Curriculum

At St Patrick’s, and grounded in our mission statement, we aim to ensure a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum which promotes children’s interest and enquiry and enables the children to grow and develop their learning by experiencing a wide range of opportunities, learning styles and subjects. We aim for every child to have the opportunity to learn effectively and to have their learning extended appropriately.  We want the children when they leave St Patrick’s to  have an excellent understanding of the social, moral and cultural aspects of the modern world, to be secure as unique individuals, know how to interact with others and be confident, independent and active learners.

At St Patrick’s the children enter Reception into two registration classes (St Francis Class and St Bernadette Class) where they learn through play in child initiated - ‘Plan Do Review’, both inside the classroom and in the Early Years outdoor area and school grounds. They are taught in small groups for Phonics, English and Maths towards specific learning goals.

From Key Stage One the children are organised into three registration classes. A Year 1 class (St Theresa Class), a Year 1/2 class (St Anthony Class) and a Year 2 class ( St Rose Class). In Lower Key Stage Two the children are also organised into three registration classes. A Year 3 class (St Martin Class), a Year 3/4 class (St George Class) and a Year 4 class (St Elizabeth class). In Upper Key Stage Two the children are organised into three registration classes. A Year 5 class (St Michael Class) and two Year 5/6 classes (St John Paul and St Josephine). If you have any questions regarding the curriculum we teach please contact the school directly.
